Daniel Barrett
Senior Animation Supervisor
He joined Weta FX in 2006 and after working as a lead animator on The Waterhorse and Avatar he began his supervising career on Rise of the Planet of the Apes.
He led the Wētā animation teams on The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Man of Steel and Furious 7, as well as returning to supervise animation on Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and War for the Planet of the Apes.
He oversees all areas of the animation pipeline and has a particular interest in facial and performance animation. He has extensive experience working with actors and directors to bring realistic emotional performances to the screen and has had a hand in creating some of cinema’s most memorable CG characters.
Daniel is a multi-award-winning animation supervisor with several Oscar, BAFTA, VES and Annie award nominations and wins to his name. In 2023 Daniel won an Oscar and BAFTA for his work on James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way of Water.
