Animation Supervisor
In order to familiarize himself with the Wētā FX pipeline, he cut his teeth on Lady and the Tramp before taking his place as a Sequence Animation Supervisor on the Avatar team.
Currently Animation Supervisor on the third film in the franchise, Avatar: Fire and Ash, Stephen supervises motion work across the whole film.
Hailing from Vancouver, BC, Canada, Stephen worked at Method Studios before making the move to New Zealand. He was Animation Supervisor on Bong Joon Ho’s Netflix film Okja, where he was also the on-set creature puppeteer for all 300 shots.
He supervised animation on Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald and Ant-Man and the Wasp and had various lead and senior animator roles on Thor: Ragnarok, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, Maze Runner, White House Down, San Andreas and Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Films like Jurassic Park, Toy Story and Terminator: Judgment Day inspired Stephen growing up and it still blows his mind that he gets to work with James Cameron, whose filmography has made such an impression.
Stephen is a member of the Academy of Moving Picture Arts & Sciences.
