Visual Effects Supervisor
He has gone on to work on some of Wētā FX’s most iconic films including The Hobbit trilogy, The BFG, and War for the Planet of the Apes, which won him an HPA Award for Outstanding Visual Effects.
Before coming to Wētā FX Luke worked at MPC on Tim Burton’s Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street as a Lighting Technical Director, and then moved to Rising Sun Pictures in Sydney. Prior to that he was at Double Negative where he developed light rigs and looks for various key digital components on Batman Begins. He also assisted in the development of their and fur grooming software.
Luke was a project lead on the development of Wētā’s real-world lighting tool PhysLight—a toolset that carries lighting and camera data from the on-set environment through to the digital lighting scene.
Luke has a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) and is an active member of the Visual Effects Society. He supervised on Mortal Engines, Christian River’s debut feature-film produced by Peter Jackson, and has recently wrapped on Jungle Cruise.
